A finance department, without the headcount
Hiring an in-house bookkeeper, controller, or CFO is expensive — salary, benefits, software, training, the cost of replacing them when they leave. For most growing businesses, you don't need a full-time finance team. You need finance done well, on a predictable schedule, by people who know what they're doing.
That's what we do. We become your finance function — handling the day-to-day bookkeeping, the periodic close, the management reporting, and the strategic advisory — so you and your team can focus on running the business. It works the same whether you're a Canadian SMB or a US company; we adapt to your structure, your software, and your reporting requirements.
What's included
- Daily bookkeeping — transactions categorized and books kept current on the cadence your business needs.
- Periodic close — reconciliations, accruals, and adjustments completed by a defined date each period, with financial statements delivered the same week.
- Management reporting — Insight Reports with P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, and the KPIs that matter for your business, in plain language.
- Sales tax and payroll oversight — GST/HST filings in Canada or multi-state sales tax in the US, plus payroll coordination so deductions and remittances are clean.
- Cash flow management — regular cash flow updates and rolling forecasts so you always know what's coming in and going out.
- Controller and advisory services — for clients who need it, fractional controller or CFO-level support: budgeting, lender management, strategic planning, and financial decision support.
- Year-end coordination — clean books delivered to your tax preparer (or to our tax team), with audit-ready files if you need them.
Who this is for
Small and mid-sized businesses — typically 5 to 100 employees, $1M to $30M in revenue — that have outgrown DIY finance but aren't ready for (or don't want) a full in-house team. Founders who want to spend their time on customers, products, and team, not on chasing receipts and reconciling bank statements.
How we work
We start with a scoping conversation to understand your business, your current systems, and what's working and what isn't. We build a fixed-fee monthly engagement so there are no surprise invoices, and we assemble a dedicated team — bookkeeper, accountant, and (where needed) a controller — that becomes an extension of your business.
Why WOW
You get the rigor of a finance department, the responsiveness of a small firm, and the cost structure of an outsourced service. Same team every period, plain-language reporting, and a real point of contact who answers when you call.
